FossilGeo is an educational project, and the aim is to keep data collection to a minimum. You do not need an account to use the site, and it is not built to track you or create a profile about you.

Like most websites, some basic technical information may be handled automatically by hosting or related services. This can include things like browser type, device type, approximate region, and request details needed to keep the site running properly and securely.

FossilGeo does not intentionally store personal information just because someone visits the site. The main exception is if you contact FossilGeo by email. In that case, your email address, message, and related email details may be stored so the message can be reviewed and replied to.

Support and feedback emails are only used for managing those messages, keeping a support inbox, and sending alerts when a new message arrives. That information is not sold or shared for advertising.

Reasonable steps are taken to protect any information handled through the site, but no website or online service can promise perfect security.
